From 2 to 5 September

This year the Madeira Wine Festival will be held between 2 and 5 September as part of the Tourism Entertainment Calendar of the Regional Tourism Board, Direcção Regional do Turismo.This event pays tribute to the most prestigious regional product, which is largely responsible for the Madeira’s international promotion, as well as to cultural roots of its locals, who have been producing this exquisite wine since the early years of the islands settlement. Festivities will take place in Funchal and Câmara de Lobos, specifically in the parish of Estreito de Câmara de Lobos.(more)

Columbus Festival 2010 - Porto Santo
From 16 to 18 September

Columbus Festival has been held on the island of Porto Santo since the late 90s in honour of Christopher Columbus, illustrious 15th century navigator, believed to be of Genoese origin. Columbus arrived to the island of Madeira as to establish business connections related to the sugar cane trade, which was a very lucrative business at the time. In addition to commercial ties, his connection to the archipelago was strengthened when he married Filipa de Moniz, daughter of Isabel Moniz and Bartolomeu Perestrelo, the first Governor of this island.(more)

Christmas traditions are deeply rooted in the Madeirans’ habits and are combined with the New Year celebrations in a varied programme of cultural, folk and artistic events, beginning in November, when the lights are switched on in the centre of Funchal, lasting all through December and only ending on Twelfth Night.(more)

Madeira offer some of the most agreeable walking imaginable. So, what better place to hold a walking festival? - a celebration of all that is good about this most popular of leisure pursuits.
The Madeira Islands are renowned for their gentle climate and generally settled weather. January is no exception. When walkers in mainland Europe are battling against wind and rain, here in Madeira we are enjoying a period of calm that you will find refreshing. We cannot say that on Madeira there is no rain; of course there is, that’s why we have such a lush and colourful landscape. But when it rains, there is something of an apology about it.(more)

Flower Festival
From 15 to 18 April

Celebrating spring and the wealth of flora it brings us every year, the city of Funchal is once again the stage for this sumptuous spectacle that will please both the eyes and nose. The theme for this year's Flower Festival, set to take place between 15 and 18 April, is "Earth", tying in with the celebrations for the International Year of Biodiversity.(more)

Madeira Islands Golf Open
From 7 to 11 April

The 2010 edition of the Madeira Islands Golf Open, which is part of the main PGA European Tour, will be held at Porto Santo Golfe during the month of April.
This year’s prize money is EUR 700.000.
After being held at the Santo da Serra Golf Club on Madeira Island for many years, this year it will be held once again on the paradisical island of Porto Santo.(more)

Atlantic Festival 2010
From 4 to 26 June

The Atlantic Festival will be kicking off summer in the Madeira Islands, combining many different initiatives throughout the whole of June. Of particular note are the Madeira Firework Festival and the entertainment planned in the lower town of Funchal, with the Start of Summer Shows, the Classic Motor Show and the Madeira Music Festival being this year's new additions.
