If you want to spend your holidays closer to the local population, their habits and customs, and Nature itself, you can choose accommodation in one of the Rural Tourism (TER) units, a term which covers a range of types of lodgings, from rural hotels to more rustic or family units, where you are taken in and live with the owners of the lodgings.  

The Madeira Rural Holiday Association (Associação Madeira Rural) is the Madeira Islands Rural Tourism Association, and it represents accommodation, products and services related to Rural Tourism (TER).
There is a central booking office, which can be accessed through the website www.madeirarural.com . This provides important information on accommodation, maps and the environment.
